Why carpet tiles run the modern workplace
Carpet tiles won the office for practical reasons: they install fast around live desks, individual tiles swap out when the coffee inevitably lands, and they lift cleanly for access to raised floors. Modern ranges have added the design case — planks, geometrics and tonal palettes that zone open-plan space without a single partition.
Acoustic carpet tiles
In open-plan offices, acoustics decide whether a space works. Carpet tiles with acoustic backings absorb impact sound and cut reverberation — the difference between a floor that just looks good and one that makes the room usable. We can specify tested acoustic ranges where sound matters: offices above tenants, libraries, teaching spaces and call floors.
Broadloom carpet, where it belongs
Wall-to-wall broadloom still wins in boardrooms, hotels and hospitality — seamless, softer underfoot, and available in weaves tiles can't match. We fit both, so the recommendation follows the room: tiles for churn and access, broadloom for comfort and presence.

How we fit carpet tiles without stopping your business
- Survey and set-out. Traffic grades, acoustic needs, and a laying plan — monolithic, quarter-turn, brick or ashlar — that suits the tile and the room.
- Preparation. Smooth, dry, sound bases matter under tiles too; old adhesive residues get dealt with properly — see subfloor preparation.
- Phased installation. We work in sections around your operation — evening and weekend moves, furniture shuffled zone by zone, teams back at their desks each morning.
- Attic stock and handover. Spare tiles from the same batch stay with you, so future replacements match exactly.
Fitting out a whole floor? We combine carpet tiles with LVT walkways and safety flooring in kitchens and washrooms — one contractor, one programme, every surface. Talk to us about your fit-out.
Carpet FAQs
Common questions about contract carpet and tiles.
Carpet tiles or broadloom, which is right for us?
Tiles for offices and high-churn spaces (easy replacement, less waste); broadloom where seamless comfort and appearance matter most, such as hotels and boardrooms.
How disruptive is installation?
Minimal. Tiles go down fast over existing raised floors, and we routinely fit out-of-hours so desks are back in place before the working day starts.
What wear class do we need?
Class 33 (heavy commercial) for most offices and corridors; we’ll specify per area so you are not overpaying for store rooms.
Do you move furniture?
Yes, furniture moves, floor-box cutting and uplift and disposal of the old floor can all be included in your quotation.
Are carpet tiles cheaper than broadloom carpet?
Tile-for-broadloom the material cost is often similar — the savings come from waste (tiles cut far less), speed of installation, and the years of maintenance where you replace single tiles instead of whole rooms. Over a floor's life, tiles usually win on cost in working buildings.
Do acoustic carpet tiles actually make a difference?
Yes — a measurable one. Acoustic-backed tiles typically add significant impact sound reduction compared to standard backings, which matters in offices above other tenants and in teaching spaces. If a quiet floor is the goal, it's specified in the backing, not the pile.
Can you fit carpet tiles while the office stays open?
That's the normal way we do it — phased sections, evening and weekend working, and furniture moved zone by zone so teams sit down each morning to a finished area. A typical floor plate completes over a handful of nights.
How long do commercial carpet tiles last?
Heavy-contract tiles are typically warrantied for 10–15 years, and because damaged or stained tiles swap out individually, the floor as a whole often serves well beyond that. Keep the attic stock we leave you and it will always match.
